Welcome to cred’s New HQ!

IMG_1454.jpg

After four WeWork locations and much anticipation, we are excited to introduce you to our new credHQ! Nestled at 49 Geary in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, our office joins the company of a diverse group of prestigious art galleries, tech, and design professionals all in one building.

Over the course of eight months, our team put a lot of thought, energy, and time into finding and curating a space that reflects who we are and the values of our organization. From our kitchen to our conference rooms, we had the opportunity to build and design the space to fit our needs from the ground up. Huge thanks to Braun + Adams and Peacock Construction for making it possible.

Our open floor plan makes room for much collaboration across teams—from our speaker management and event management teams, to our team of four-legged mascots Gunnar, Lucy, and Chloe!

Devoted to all things events, we named our conference rooms after something close to our hearts: the many stages our clients speak on! You can find us having meetings on the Mainstage, Breakout Stage, or Green Room.

Our new office marks an exciting chapter in cred’s growth. We look forward to welcoming clients and candidates to a space that mirrors how far we’ve come and the journey ahead.

SXSW 2020 PanelPicker is Live: It’s Time to Vote!

20_SXSW_Website_SEO-1.png

Last year, cred was one of 73,716 attendees at SXSW! Along with experiencing all things in music and film at the festival, we got a chance to see our clients Mighetor, Foundation Capital, 500 Startups, Ripple, and Voicea, take the stage to discuss topics ranging from the future of work to AI to blockchain.

How’d they do it? On top of having great content, each session went through a round of public voting on SXSW’s PanelPicker—which opens today! Attendees are given a chance to voice the types of panels, presentations, and workshops they’d like to see during next year’s event. For 2020, cred submitted 16 sessions covering topics such as the future of work and cannabis. Learn more about each of these sessions below.

pexels-photo-273222.jpeg

Earlier this month, we introduced you to our summer intern Caraline Pham. Now, we’re excited to introduce you to the two interns who will also be spending their summer here with us at cred: Sheila Tabar and Vyvy Nguyen, both of whom are rising seniors at UC Santa Barbara. Sheila will be joining our speaker management team, and Vyvy will be working alongside our growing event management team.

Get the scoop on these two new credians.

(Left: Sheila Tabar, Vyvy Nguyen)

cred: Where are you going to school and what are you studying? Why did you choose to study that subject?

Vyvy: I am currently a senior studying Psychology and Communication at UC Santa Barbara. My majors allow me to further my knowledge of interactions between others and myself.

Sheila: In the fall, I will be starting my senior year at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am a double major, studying Environmental Science and Political Science! I chose these majors because I love learning the different modes of environmental and political communications to effectively convey messages!

cred: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

VN: I was born and raised in the Bay Area and am happy to be home for the summer working with cred! Some of my hobbies include yoga, traveling, and trying new food joints. I love being on-the-go and spending time exploring or hanging with my friends and family.

ST: I am originally from SF, born and raised! I am so stoked to be back in the city this summer. In my free time, I love powerlifting, going to the beach, and trying new types of food!

cred: What do you want to achieve while interning at cred?

VN: I look forward to pushing myself out of my comfort zone! I’m really excited to learn the ropes of what great event planning looks like.

ST: I want to further develop my knowledge in the PR field. I am excited to dive deeper into speaker management and enhance client relations with new skills. I am looking forward to assisting with the relationship between speakers and events!

cred: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

VN: Pizza. Deep dish, pan crust, thin crust—you name it.

ST: Garlic noodles! Fire.

cred: Can you give us one interesting fact about yourself?

VN:  In my high school yearbook, for senior superlatives, I was voted “Most Likely to Steal Your Lunch” (no theft involved though, just their way of saying “biggest appetite”).

ST: I have visited all four major Hawaiian islands!

cred: What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next five years?

VN: I hope to have a career in marketing/events and have a cute pet cat.

ST: I would love to be working in the PR industry back home, have my own pet dachshund, and master’s degree in Business!

Getting to Know You: Meet cred’s Summer Intern

Here at cred, we've experienced a lot of growth, and our intern program is no different. This summer, we're welcoming three new interns to support our speaker and event management teams.

Up first is Caraline Pham, who will be interning with one of our speaker management teams. A native from Boston and rising senior at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Caraline is excited to learn more about the PR industry and work with an array of clients.

Get to learn more about Caraline in the full interview below.

cred: Where are you going to school and what are you studying? Why did you choose to study that subject?

Caraline Pham: I am a rising senior at The University of Wisconsin-Madison (go badgers!). I’m studying strategic communication, which is housed in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I am also earning certificates (UW Madison’s equivalent of minors) in business and digital studies.

I’ve always been interested in different forms of communication and how to use them effectively and everything I am studying has let me deep dive into that!

cred: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

CP: I am from Boston, so being on the other side of the country is definitely a big change, but I absolutely love it! I love doing hot yoga and a good charcuterie board. On the weekends you can find me trying new restaurants or spending time with my friends

cred: What do you want to achieve while interning at cred?

CP: I am excited to gain more experience in the PR industry and work with an array of different clients. I am looking forward to learning more about speaker management and hope to learn the ins and outs of how to find an event that a speaker is excited to be involved in and the event is excited to have!

cred: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

CP: Sushi (I know it doesn’t really seem like a breakfast food, but I wouldn’t rule it out)

cred: Can you give us one interesting fact about yourself?

CP: I used to pole vault!

cred: What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next five years?

CP: I would love to move to California and make San Francisco my home!

Happy 4th Birthday, cred!

Happy 4th Birthday, cred!

At times it feels like it was yesterday, and others like it’s been decades since the seed for cred was planted. I sat down to write this and decided to look at our first ever blog post. What a proud moment realizing that, even though we’ve changed over the years, at our core, we’ve still managed to keep the extreme focus and simple offering we started with 4 years ago; not many can say the same. Sure, our vision and mission have evolved, but our why remains intact: We believe that bringing knowledgeable, passionate speakers to engaged audiences builds awareness and excitement for you and your brand.

After 4 years and successfully placing 320+ speakers in 3,323 events all over the world, we’ve enabled ourselves to think more strategically and bigger about how a formal speaking programs impact a business’s brand and position in the market.

Meet cred’s Spring Intern

roman-bozhko-251947-unsplash.jpg

The cred team is excited to welcome another intern for the spring semester! Our intern program is as unique as cred, offering newcomers a chance to take a deep dive into the world of communications and events—from pitching clients for conferences to supporting speaking opportunities and researching industry events.

We sat down with Sonali Gupta, a senior graduating in May from the University of San Francisco, to chat through her experience. From interning at Chirps Chips, a startup featured on Shark Tank and backed by Mark Cuban, to joining us for the spring, we loved hearing about Sonali’s path to cred.

Check out our full interview below!

cred_photo_Sonali_4_23.jpg

cred: Where are you going to school and what are you studying?

Sonali Gupta: I’m currently at the University of San Francisco and I’m studying Business Marketing!

cred: Why did you choose to study marketing?

SG: I chose to pursue marketing because there’s so many different aspects to it (digital, social media, product, etc) and over the course of my studies and classes I realized I was passionate about digital marketing.

cred: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

SG: I’m originally from Sacramento so it was a big change for me to move to San Francisco, which is such a populous and a busy city. I love brunching on the weekends and spending time at Dolores Park with friends. I am obsessed with Game of Thrones and I love binge watching random shows on Netflix!

cred: What do you want to achieve while interning at cred?

SG: My past experiences have been heavily focused on digital marketing and a little bit on events, so I really want to get more experience in the PR/communications industry and learn more about the backend work of running events. It is nice to see that cred focuses on events, because not a lot of companies do that. Being able to tap into that niche market and help run events seamlessly is very useful for people who want to have an audience to talk to. I’m super excited for all the new things I’m going to learn!

cred: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

SG: Taco Bell Chalupas 24/7.

cred: Can you give us one interesting fact about yourself?

SG: I interned at a startup (Chirps Chips) that was featured on Shark Tank and invested in by Mark Cuban!

cred: What is one thing you want to accomplish in the next five years?

SG: My dad and I have a few new entrepreneurial ideas for products and companies, so I really want to work with him to start a company of my own!

Hear Us Roar: Happy International Women’s Day!

Happy International Women’s Day! Across the world, March 8 marks a global event for women and men to celebrate the “social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.”

Here at cred, we are proud to partner with a number of dynamic women speakers across industries to help share their stories, wisdom, and unique perspectives on what’s next in innovation and entrepreneurship. As a women-led company ourselves, cred recognizes the importance of having strong female leaders who are not afraid to rattle their industries and inspire movements for generations to come.

According to the 2018 Pew Research Center’s Data on Women Leaders study, only 4.8 percent of CEO positions at Fortune 500 companies were held by women. We hope to see this number grow over time as we continue to work with outstanding female leaders to give them a platform to broadcast their voice. (Related: credTen: Top Ten Conferences in Female Entrepreneurship)

Today, we celebrate the amazing women we see on the stage, in our office, and around the world.

See below for a sample of some of our amazing women speakers.

Know a female founder whose voice should be amplified? Send them our way hello@credpr.com.

2018: A Year in Review

cred%2BHoliday%2Bparty%2Bgroup.jpg

For cred, 2018 has been a year of winning. From January through December, we’ve achieved multiple milestones such as growing to a team of 20 people, opening an office in Sacramento, and ramping up our Events Management arm of the business. As we wrap up 2018, we’re excited to reflect on the year and highlight one win from each month.

January

We said hello to our new home at the brand new WeWork Montgomery Station in San Francisco’s Financial District. We love our new location, with easy access to BART and public transportation and endless lunch options.

February

The blog launched the first post of our credTen series, which highlights the top 10 events across different industries. These lists have become the most popular posts on our blog and we look forward to building out more in the months to come. A few of our favorites include our credTen for events in marketing, blockchain, female entrepreneurship, and design.

March

It was Pi Day (3.14) at cred and there was no shortage of pie at the office! Since the launch of our cred Culture Club, a group designed to plan events and sustain our strong company culture, we observe engaging holidays like Pi Day with a celebratory treat or activity in the office. To stay in the loop with our office culture (and office dogs), follow us on Instagram.

April

We continued to partner with Hamilton Families, a San Francisco-based organization on a mission to end family homelessness. Having volunteered at their kid’s carnival and wrapped Christmas gifts in previous years, our team endearingly refers to the organization as “Ham Fam.”  Throughout 2018, cred volunteered with Hamilton Families by participating at Friday night bingo nights and donating Christmas stockings.

May

cred turned 3! We took our birthday celebrations to Neyborly Union Square, a modern and chic art gallery here in San Francisco, and reflected on some of our major accomplishments, including confirming 1,800+ speaking opportunities for our clients, growing our team to 17, building a database of more than 7,500 events from scratch, and launching our first official internship program for summer 2018.

June

Our team had the pleasure of volunteering at Hustle Con, hosted at Oakland’s historic Paramount Theatre. Hustle Con is an annual event started in 2014 to answer the question: what does it mean to hustle? We’ve secured speaking opportunities at multiple events put on by The Hustle for our clients and love working with their team.

P.S. If you want to ramp up your speaking strategy, feel free to reach out to hello@credpr.com.

July

Our fearless CEO Caitlin Bartley spoke on a panel of female founders at the She Leads breakfast hosted by WeWork. Caitlin shared insight on how she started cred and provided practical tips for female founders.

August

We had our first cred Cupcake Wars in honor of Cupcake Day on August 19! Who knew there could be so many talented and competitive bakers (and cake lovers) on one team? With four judges and nine bakers, three winners were selected for best taste, best design, and best apron. We all enjoyed a week-long sugar rush due to endless homemade cupcakes, but agreed it was worth it.

Until next year, Cupcake Wars, until next year.

September

September was a productive and memorable month for our Events Management team. We put on two events in one week— plus three events packed into one day shortly after! Check out Caitlin’s recap on one of these events here.

Going into 2018, one major focus was to grow the Event Management side of the company and we did just that! We worked with multiple clients to coordinate events, from one-day summits to multiple-day conferences. The team planned and managed a total of 19 events in 2018 alone.

Interested to learn more about how we can help you with your event? Email us at events@credpr.com.

October

We reached our largest team size to date with 20 employees strong. One reason for this growth was launching our brand new office in Sacramento! We’re thrilled to have expanded outside of the Bay Area in 2018.

November

We put on our first international event in cred history! Our Events Management team flew across the pond for RampUp London, which attracted more than 300 attendees at the prestigious Savoy Hotel, the sister property to Fairmont San Francisco where RampUp SF is hosted each year.

December

We took to Livermore Valley for cred’s Holiday Party. To commemorate our incredible growth and success this year, our team spent an afternoon at Rubino Estates Winery for wine tasting, lunch, bocce ball, and a Secret Santa gift exchange.

Thanks for the memories, 2018! Looking forward to an epic 2019.
