Attendee engagement is on every event organizer’s mind. How can content be more engaging? How do I make networking similar to live events? Nothing will ever substitute the in-person experience, but getting creative with your virtual event swag bag will give your attendees the interaction they have been craving.

Like everything in 2020, the swag bag is adapting to the online world and event organizers are getting more creative than ever. Whether you have an event coming up or are looking for ways to boost internal team engagement, here are some of cred’s favorite ways to curate the new virtual event swag bag.

Physical Swag Boxes. With live events pivoting to virtual this year, we’re seeing more event organizers opting to mail out swag boxes to attendees. Between customized boxes, branded items, and print materials, you can’t go wrong with getting your messaging across while surprising your attendees with a fun box of goodies. Use a theme and help create a story around items that attendees will actually find useful. Thinking “Health and Wellness”? Throw in a notebook to encourage journaling or a lunch bag to get your audience outdoors more.

  • If you’re not trying to manually pack hundreds of boxes, work with SwagUp or Sendoso to help craft the perfect box and handle all things packaging.

Digital Swag. Costs associated with shipping physical swag can add up fast. Save money and time, and go digital! Include a $5 gift card from a local cafe in your welcome email or a food delivery voucher around lunchtime. Other things we’re seeing are monthly subscriptions to our favorite apps, such asSpotify, Headspace, or Grammarly.

  • Have a larger budget? An annual Masterclass subscription is a great option that can remind attendees of your event all year round.

Swag for Good. Turn your efforts toward social good. There’s never been a more appropriate time to transition from the branded water bottle to donating to important causes in your audience’s name. Get creative and choose a charity or two that aligns with your company mission. Engage your attendees and give them the option to choose which charity they’d like their swag dollars to go toward.

  • Looking for an option that combines the physical swag we love, but also gives back to your community? Send curated custom packages through Keep Your City Smiling. All items in your pack are sourced from local vendors in your neighborhood. Gift intentionally and support small businesses. From San Francisco to New York City, these boxes give back to your favorite local spots!
