Six Years Later and Our ‘Why’ Remains Strong

This past year has been anything but easy—Year 5 to 6 was the hardest one yet, (and felt more like a decade!). This time last year there was a lot of chaos, despair, and uncertainty, especially for our industry. Fortunately, we’re in a much more positive, hopeful position with live events returning and the continued creativity and expansion our industry is currently experiencing; an exciting time.

Our biggest takeaway these past 12 months? Our ability to persevere, overcome, and adapt. It’s something we’ll take with us going forward, and are proud that after a rattling year, we were able to stay true to our purpose and vision. Through it all, we never forgot our ‘why’: building thought leaders.

How do we think about our purpose? To us, cred is centered on:

  • Helping companies connect and find the right events for them to boost their brand.

  • Enabling companies to understand their passion and where they can really make a difference in their industry.

  • Allowing companies to expand to a new product, team, location or vertical.

  • Helping companies host the best possible event for them.

  • Representing more speakers of color and underrepresented groups to create an even platform and share of voice.

  • Finding clarity and consistency in a brand, website or messaging and taking it to the next level.

All of these get me fired up when I think about our clients and how our purpose has made an impact on their businesses!

We proved last year we can adapt and stay agile. Though our ‘how’ changed, we adapted, and learned to expand, grow and push ourselves in new ways through new offerings—all while keeping our ‘why’ constant. cred’s ‘why’ really hasn’t swayed. We’ve always talked about the simplicity and focus of cred, and this comes back to our purpose.

Our ‘how’ has expanded and evolved these past six years as we’ve grown and adapted. We build thought leaders through:

  • Events

  • Speaking

  • Social media

  • Podcasts

  • Awards

  • Webinars and other virtual events

  • Speaker Websites

  • Slide creation and content

  • ...and more even we don’t know about yet.

Some of the above is new this year. Funny enough, last year at our company offsite, we talked about a desire to expand our offerings. I didn’t think it would be a pandemic that brought them to the surface, but with chaos, we created opportunity.

We’ve learned we don’t have all the answers, but are pretty darn proud with how we adapted and conquered, and shown how we can future proof the business. Happy Birthday, cred—here’s to the next six and beyond!
