Recapping Q2 2021: Where Has Our Event Management Team Been?

Our event management team was busy in Q2! We helped to host five virtual events—all while growing our team and preparing for several Q3 and Q4 events. We are also happy to report that all of our events this quarter (with the exception of new event client Cisco Meraki) are returning clients!

On top of a successful quarter for events, it has been rewarding to see how much our team has grown in the realm of virtual events. We’ve become experts in MeetingPlay, Welcome, Splash, Hopin, Swapcard, Zoom (of course), and On24.

In Q2, we worked with new event client Meraki on their first user conference. We’ve been lucky to work with them on the speaker side of things, yet it’s always fun—and complimentary—when we can assist our clients on both sides of our business. During their user event, customers, prospects and industry experts came together to focus on their journeys of cloud-managed IT. Read our full recap here

Where else were we this quarter?

  • In early April, we helped bring to life Wellness Coach’s Mental Health in the Workplace: Starting the Conversation webinar. This intimate event focused on a prevalent topic that has been brought to necessary light throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • LiveRamp’s internal FY22 SKO happened in late April. We continued to work toward our goal of expanding offerings by partnering with LiveRamp on their FY22 Sales Kick-Off. It was a massive success, with some long-time employees saying it was the best SKO to date.

  • In May, SaaStr Enterprise brought together SaaS companies with $20M-$2B in ARR to host Roundtables, small-group meetings, live AMAs, and tactical sessions around driving innovation at the enterprise-level and scaling your business to market and sell to enterprise customers.

  • In June, Lightspeed Leading Lights rounded out our quarter by offering an up-close look at the startup journey—and introduced Jessica Alba to cred. Yes, the Jessica Alba! Check out our full recap here

We continue to enjoy playing a role in elevating the voices featured by our clients at their events. Here are just a few of the incredible speakers we had a chance to work with:

  • Alison Levine, First American Women's Everest Expedition Team Captain and New York Times bestselling author of On the Edge

  • Clara Shih, CEO of Service Cloud, Salesforce

  • Denise Thomas, VP Operations, Cisco Meraki

  • Guy Raz, Award-Winning Reporter, Radio & Podcast Host and Creator

  • Howard Akumiah, Founder and CEO, Betty Labs

  • Jessica Alba, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, The Honest Company

  • Max Levchin, Founder and CEO, Affirm

  • Scott Howe, CEO, LiveRamp

  • Shay Banon, CEO, Elastic

  • Reshma Saujani, Founder of Girls Who Code and Marshall Plan for Moms

  • Zig, Serafin, CEO, Qualtrics

We’re continuing to learn with every event! Here’s what we’ve noticed in the past quarter:

  • While we’re beginning to plan for in-person events again, we know the virtual function will be vital for events to remain accessible and relevant for attendees.

  • Ensure your registration and virtual platforms know how to communicate with one another for last-minute attendee additions and day-of registrations. You want your audience to have access to the event as soon as it begins!

  • Remember that the audience likes to see unscripted, real content. When planning for your content, keep in mind what you would like to see as an attendee. Remind your speakers to be themselves and use mannerisms they’d use in everyday interactions.

  • On-demand is still necessary. With virtual events, attendees could be tuning in from all over the world. We know this by now, so don’t forget to give your audience the option to tune in post-event.

  • We were lucky enough to have a two-part, company-wide training by Blue Level where we focused on Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. Not only did this training help our employees become more aware and knowledgeable, but it also contributed to our goal of prioritizing diverse speakers on our event’s stages, both virtual and in-person.

Summer is in full swing and fall events are right around the corner—that means a resurgence of in-person conferences. We’re already seeing venue availability and schedules of notable speakers beginning to fill up! So if that is the direction you’re anticipating for a 2021 or even 2022 event, we advise making some decisions as soon as you’re able. We love to see a hunger for live events again. After all, that’s why we got started in the first place!
