Event Spotlight: DeveloperWeek 2023

Over 2,000 in-person attendees and 6,000 virtual attendees attended DeveloperWeek 2023 this month.

In case you’re not familiar, DeveloperWeek, hosted in the San Francisco Bay Area,  is the largest developer & engineering conference and event series in the world. Attended by developers, engineers, software architects, dev teams, managers, and executives, the event covers key technical topics from a range of industries, sectors, and specializations,  including cloud, blockchain, AI/machine learning, and more. The event is co-located with ProductWorld and CloudWorld.

This year’s agenda featured expert speakers from well-known tech companies, including Cullen Jennings, Chief Technology Officer of Cisco, Jody Bailey, Chief Technology Officer of Stack Overflow, Steve Wood, SVP of Product at Slack, Robin Grochol, VP Product Management Twilio Engage at Twilio, Todd Sharp, Principal Developer Advocate at Twitch, Stef Corazza, Head of Roblox Studio at Roblox, Ketaki Vaidya, Product Manager-AI at Oracle, Tejas Chopra, Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, and many more.

A few highlights include:

  • In a virtual exclusive session, David Schwartz, Chief Technology Officer of Ripple covered how to lead the engineering teams of the future and how to transition from Web2 to Web3.

  • Teresa Wu, VP Engineer at J.P. Morgan talked about micro frontends: CI/CD pipeline design and automation.

  • David Goudreau, VP of Engineering at Marqeta shared critical insights about how open APIs are innovating payments.

  • Shubhansha Agrawal, Head of Product at Yelp gave an informative talk on the first 90 days: product leader vs product manager.

  • Karat’s Principle Developer Advocate Jason Wodicka discussed how to make technical hiring processes more equitable in front of a full room (standing room only)

  • Stef Corazza, Head of Roblox Studio at Roblox discussed democratizing in the metaverse with AI.

  • ConsenSys‘s General Manager of Product Nayana Sing covered why NFTs and APIs are crucial for the future of Web3.

Other highlights - The DEVIES Awards

In addition to the conference & expo portions, DeveloperWeek also hosted the DEVIES awards, which recognize outstanding design, engineering, and innovation in developer technology.

Selected by a panel of expert judges from organizations like Salesforce, Electronic Arts, Google, Broadcom, Accenture, and more, 2023 winners include Kong, Fastly, Qualcomm Technologies, ClickUp, DigitalOcean, Hyperledger, Mattermost, Kubecost, among others.
