Top Trending Cities for Events

Being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference when it comes to raising your profile. As markets become increasingly crowded and executive calendars more competitive, an important question has emerged:

Which cities deserve a permanent place on your travel calendar?

The answer goes far beyond the conference itself.

When it comes to choosing events, location matters. Event organizers are incredibly intentional about where they host their conferences because the city shapes everything from the attendee experience and networking opportunities to accessibility and the overall success of the event.

To better understand where executives should be spending their time, we analyzed cred's proprietary database of more than 6,500 business events taking place between 2025 and 2027. The goal was simple: identify the cities that consistently create the greatest opportunities for executive thought leadership.

As you finalize your 2026 travel plans—and begin thinking ahead to 2027 (it's never too early!)—here are the cities worth putting on your radar.

Why Event Locations Matter

Before diving into the rankings, it's worth understanding why location has become just as important as the event itself. Choosing the right city can turn a single speaking engagement into an entire executive visibility campaign.

Beyond taking the stage, the right destination creates opportunities for customer meetings, analyst briefings, media interviews, investor conversations, partner dinners, recruiting, podcast recordings, and content creation. Rather than viewing conferences as standalone moments, leading marketing teams are increasingly treating them as anchors for broader executive engagement.

For teams vetting speaking and event opportunities, that means thinking beyond the question, "Should we attend this conference?"

Instead, ask:

"What else happens in this city while our executive is already there?"

That shift in thinking can transform a single conference into a week of business development, brand building, and thought leadership.

Using a recent "Euro Summer" example, this year we had a client speak at VivaTech in Paris (June 17-20), travel to Cannes Lions (June 22-26) for a week of networking with leading marketers and brands, then return to Paris for RAISE Summit (July 8-9). Between events, they held dozens of customer meetings, hosted happy hours and community meetups, and recorded podcast episodes and short-form social content with creators.

When you start thinking beyond a single event and instead build travel around a city or even a country, the opportunities to maximize your executives' calendars grow exponentially.

Events Are Becoming Ecosystems

The role of conferences has evolved.

Today's flagship business events are no longer simply stages for presentations. They're ecosystems where media, investors, customers, analysts, creators, and startup communities all converge for a few days each year.

That evolution has made location more important than ever.

When our team attended HumanX in San Francisco earlier this year, we heard plenty of feedback comparing the experience to when the event was held in Las Vegas the year before.

Interestingly, while many executives initially grumble about traveling to Las Vegas, we actually heard from more press and attendees who preferred the Vegas location. Their reasoning? Top executives were more "stuck" there, creating more opportunities to connect organically in the speaker lounge, during networking breaks, and throughout the event.

It's a reminder that the best event location isn't always the most desirable travel destination—it can also be the place that creates the strongest environment for meaningful interactions.

The (Current) Top Event Cities for Executive Thought Leadership

1. San Francisco Bay Area (SF & surrounding areas)

It's no surprise that the San Francisco Bay Area claimed the top spot in our database for upcoming business events. As the epicenter of the AI and startup ecosystem, the region attracts everyone from early-stage founders and venture capitalists to Fortune 500 technology leaders.

2. New York City, New York

New York City ranked second in our database, reflecting its position as a crossroads for technology, finance, media, retail, advertising, and enterprise leadership. Unlike markets with a heavier startup focus, New York's event landscape brings together executives from both established enterprises and fast-growing technology companies, making it an ideal destination for leaders looking to reach a broad business audience.

3. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas’ convention infrastructure, hotel capacity, and accessibility make it a natural home for some of the largest technology and enterprise gatherings, drawing executives from nearly every industry. While not every attendee loves a trip to Vegas, its all-in-one conference environment often creates exceptional networking opportunities.

4. London, England

For companies looking to expand internationally, London offers one of the highest concentrations of European enterprise and AI events. The city attracts a diverse mix of global enterprises, startups, investors, and policymakers, making it a valuable destination for companies looking to build visibility beyond North America.

Events like…

5. Boston, Mass.

Boston rounds out the top five thanks to its unique blend of world-class universities, healthcare systems, research institutions, venture capital, and enterprise technology companies. The city's event calendar is especially strong in life sciences, biotech, healthcare, AI, robotics, and deep tech, making it an increasingly important stop for executives operating at the intersection of innovation and research.

Which Locations Are Gaining Traction?

We have a front-row seat to how conference organizers are spotting the next buzziest cities.

In our recent conversation with the HumanX team, they explained why they're expanding to Amsterdam:

"[Europe is] having a massive moment. We're seeing incredible momentum from powerhouses like Nscale, Mistral, ElevenLabs, and Synthesia. But we kept hearing the same thing: the European ecosystem is hungry for a direct line to Silicon Valley without the 11+ hour flight. We're bringing HumanX to Amsterdam to be that physical bridge, creating a space where the best of European innovation meets the strategic playbooks of the Valley to drive real-world impact."

Similarly, WeAreDevelopers, which has hosted its flagship event in Berlin for years, chose San José for its first U.S. conference. We already see the Bay Area in our top spot, but their insight into how they selected San José specifically was really valuable.

Rather than simply selecting a recognizable destination, the team deliberately evaluated cities including Austin, Seattle, New York, and Chicago before landing on Silicon Valley.

As they explained:

"San José was a deliberate choice. We didn't just want a big-name city. We wanted a place where technology is challenged, built, and lived every day... It combines deep tech roots, global accessibility, strong infrastructure, and a local community we can integrate into... The City of San José didn't just want to host another event. They wanted to build this together with us. That partnership mindset made the difference."

Our own in-house event planning team has been tracking similar trends. In their Q1 2026 Event Trends Report, they observed growing demand for smaller, highly curated events in cities like Seattle and Austin.

In one quarter alone, the team hosted private dinners for roughly 30 attendees in each of those markets. Their takeaway:

"We're seeing more and more popularity in Seattle, Austin, and Boston for smaller, more tailored events... More companies are expanding their presence across a variety of cities like Seattle and Austin. Cost savings are a nice benefit for these locations as well. Both Boston and Austin came in around $7,000 cheaper overall than hosting the same-sized event in San Francisco or New York."

The best executive visibility strategies aren't built around individual conferences—they're built around markets. When you know where your customers, prospects, media, and partners are gathering, every speaking engagement becomes an opportunity to create exponentially more business value.
